PVC, though easier to work with, is less durable than copper or steep pipes and will need repairs on occasion. Simply cutting out the leaking or cracked section of pipe and replacing it with a new section- -along with fittings to connect the pipes- -will cure the problem. Things Needed. Hack saw.
Utility knife. Cloth rag. PVC coupler fittings. PVC pipe, 8 feet. PVC cement. Step 1. Locate the section or area of PVC that is leaking. Turn off the water supply to this section of pipe. Make a mark about 3 inches on either side of the leak to indicate where to cut the pipe.
Step 2. Cut the pipe on the two marks with the hack saw to remove the bad section. Run the blade of the utility knife round the outside and inside on both places where the pipe was cut, to remove any plastic burrs or debris. Wipe both ends of the existing pipe to clean them, dry away any moisture and ensure the cement will adhere to the pipe.
Step 3. Apply cement to the outside end of one of the pipes, and on one inside end of a coupler. Quickly slide the coupler onto the end of the pipe and twist it 1.

Cut a piece of PVC to the length you measured. Run the knife around outside and inside each end to remove any plastic burrs or debris from the cut.
Step 6. Dry fit the PVC pipe into both couplers to ensure the pipe will fit and is the correct length. Step 7. Apply cement to the inside of one of the couplers and to the outside of one end of the pipe. Slide the pipe into the coupler and twist to ensure a tight fit.
